Welcome to the Hopkins Royal Cup!

We are excited to host you and your school. We will offer Lincoln Douglas, Public Forum and Congressional Debate. Lincoln Douglas and Public Forum will be offered in Varsity, Junior Varsity and Novice divisions; however, the top two divisions may be collapsed into one Open division depending on the number of registrants.

Both Lincoln Douglas and Public Forum will offer five rounds of competition followed by awards and a final round. Congressional Debate is planned to have two sessions, the second being a super session.

Please arrive to the tournament by 8am. The Schedule for the tournament is as follows:

Judging Obligations:

Schools are required to provide one judge per two entries (one public forum team is considered one entry) in LD and PF. If an odd number of entries are registered in LD or PF, you are required to bring an additional judge. Schools should provide one congress judge per 5 congressional entries or fraction thereof.

Judges will be asked to volunteer to officiate the final round, however, if enough judges to not volunteer, schools will be obligated to provide a final round judge in divisions they had entries in.

A limited number of hired judges will be available at $100/judge, but these must be requested a minimum of 10 days prior to the tournament.

 
Food / Concessions:

Doughnuts/Muffins/Bagels and Pizza will be available for purchase during breakfast and Lunch. Additional beverage and snack options will also be available. Coaches and Judges will have their meals provided by the tournament. Schools which have individuals with food/diet sensitivities or allergies should reach out to tournament staff prior to the tournament date.

Entry Fees:

Lincoln Douglas: $12.50 per competitor

Public Forum : $17.50 per team

Congressional: $10.00 per competitor
